Getting a Legal Will in Halifax

Halifax has no shortage of lawyers who can prepare a Will, but legal fees for estate work can run well into the hundreds — sometimes over a thousand dollars — before you've signed anything. Worry Free Will & Notary offers a straightforward alternative for people who know what they want and simply need their documents properly prepared and legally executed.

Our Halifax office is located at 647 Bedford Highway, Suite 101 — The Terrace Professional Centre — with easy access from across the city and free parking on site. Appointments are available throughout the week.

What's Included at the Halifax Appointment

The $395 package includes everything you need to have complete, legally valid estate documents:

  • A Legal Will (Last Will and Testament) executed under Nova Scotia law
  • An Enduring Power of Attorney appointing your chosen Attorney for financial matters
  • A Personal Directive appointing your Delegate for healthcare decisions
  • Two qualified witnesses provided — you do not need to bring anyone
  • Notarized Affidavits of Execution for all documents
  • Free annual updates for the life of your documents

How the Halifax Appointment Works

After booking online, you'll receive an email with a short questionnaire. Completing it before your appointment lets staff prepare your documents in advance so the hour is spent reviewing and signing — not filling in forms. When you arrive at the Bedford Highway office, your documents will be ready. You'll review them, ask any questions, sign in front of the Notary and two witnesses, and leave with everything complete.

Most clients are in and out in well under an hour.

Who Needs a Will in Halifax?

The short answer is every adult. Nova Scotia's Intestate Succession Act determines what happens to your estate if you die without a Will — and the result may be very different from what you would have chosen. Common misconceptions include:

  • A common-law partner has no automatic inheritance rights in Nova Scotia without a Will
  • Your spouse does not automatically inherit everything — if you have children, the estate is divided between them
  • Without a Will naming a guardian, the court decides who raises your minor children
  • Without a Will, you cannot make specific gifts to individuals, friends, or charities

A properly executed Will removes all of this uncertainty in one appointment.
